Rick Geoffrion

Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Geoffrion carries with him over 25 years of management experience in the medical device industry and more than 20 years specifically in the cardiovascular space. A co-founder of Mitralign, he has previously led the company foundation, deal structuring and served as the early stage CEO for five medical device companies in addition to guiding the recapitalization and redirection of two other successful medical device companies. Mr. Geoffrion is currently a member of the Board of Directors of CircuLite, Inc. and Mitralign, Inc. and he has served as the Chairman of Impella CardioSystems AG, CircuLite, Inc. and FlowMedica, Inc. He holds a BSME and an MBA from the University of Connecticut.


Adam Groothuis

Vice President, Medical Affairs

Dr. Groothuis brings a wealth of experience to Mitralign, where he serves as the VP of Medical Affairs. Prior to joining Mitralign, he was the Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at CBSET, where he was responsible for research in cardiovascular devices. Prior to CBSET, he was the Associate Director of the Experimental Cardiovascular Interventional Laboratories at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Research Associate in the Harvard-M.I.T. Division of Health Sciences and Technology. He served as an advisor for numerous interventional cardiology devices currently commercialized and has authored numerous journal articles in the area of cardiovascular diseases

He received his BS from University of California Irvine, MS from Georgetown University, MBA from Salem State University and his PhD. from Southern New Hampshire University. 


Kim O'Connell

Director, Regulatory & Clinical Affairs

Kim brings over 15 years of regulatory and clinical affairs knowledge, of which 12 years are specific to the cardiovascular space.   Kim most recently served in a leadership position at Medtronic as a Senior Clinical Research Manager in the Endovascular Therapies business.  Prior to her work in clinical affairs she also held several roles within Medtronic’s regulatory affairs group.  Kim holds a BS degree in Biotechnology from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, an MS degree in Drug Regulatory Affairs & Health Policy from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and an MBA from Endicott College Van Loan School of Management..


Steve Cahalane

Vice President, Research & Development

Steve has over 20 years of product development, operations and quality management experience in the medical device industry. Prior to joining Mitralign, Steve worked in R&D and Operations management at Percardia Inc. Prior to that he worked in Operations and Quality Assurance management roles at Boston Scientific and quality engineering at Bard. He holds a BS degree in Plastics Engineering from the University of Lowell.


Chris Lee

Director of Research and Development

Chris brings over 20 years of experience in development and manufacturing of medical devices. Prior to joining Mitralign, he was with LightLab Imaging, now part of St Jude Medical. Chris has also held product development leadership roles at Surgivision, GMP Companies and at C.R. Bard / AVE and Medtronic. Chris has a BS degree cum laude in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University in Boston.
